Or how to easily build your personalized workspace on a very low budget. Let me rephrase, that's zero budget. (Whaaat?!)
We're two young professionals, ahem, living here, so a desk or two were needed, but this tiny studio doesn't give us much chance to bring in new furniture, especially big pieces. We kind of follow the principle one in, one out, and we were joking that if we set up two desks the sofa or even the oven needed to go. So, think again.
We initially thought of a folding wall table and we saw one at a big Swedish retail store, yes, right, you got it, but come on people, £80 for a board and a leg is way too much! Then we thought of making our own board and leg from timber and DIY stores and that would be half the price. Not bad. But then yesterday we walked by a Charity furniture shop and this guy gave us a wooden board for free. I know, I said, let's put it on the window ledge. It was the right size, as you can see. Plus we have wonderfully matching high chairs. Magic.
Three floors up, one hour and six screws later and everything was set. Our new workspace by the window! Always dreamed of this, it's fun and inspiring to be connected to the outside world when working. Plus the light, all the light you can get.
This is not an exact how-to post, but if this solution is the one for you, you'll just need a wooden board and a handful of screws to attach it on top of the original window ledge. It's almost like a garden space, without the cold. Clever.
Wishing you a creative weekend and don't be afraid to doubt the conventional. Create your life!
